Educational Workshops
are held Monday through Friday beginning at 10am, the last workshop is at 3pm
PRICING
Educational Workshop: $10/person
Minimum Group size is 20
Teachers are free of charge. This discount does not apply to parents that home school.
1 chaperone for each group of 10 children required. Admission for chaperones is free.
Payment is due on or before the date of the visit.
REGISTRATION POLICY
Registration should be made at least two weeks in advance. Please fill out a Registration Form with multiple date and time options for workshops. Once the registration form is received and processed, we will send a confirmation email. To register a workshop please fill out the REGISTRATION FORM.
SCHOLARSHIPS
We offer scholarships for Title-I and low-income schools and youth organizations, subject to availability. Scholarships are for Vivarium admission, workshop registration fees, and/or transportation.
HOURS
Butterfly Farms is open everyday from April through November and is closed on holidays.
We are open 10:00 am – 3:00 pm.
WORKSHOPS
The educational workshop lasts approximately 1 hour. There is a minimum of 20 students per workshop. Accommodations will be made for large groups (we will rotate students between our Educational Workshop and our Vivarium Tour until all students participate in both). The Educational Workshop and Vivarium components each last approximately 25 minutes. Our Educational Workshop aligns to state and national learning standards. The workshop was developed with the aid of local teachers and follows the Next Generation Science Standards.
CANCELLATION POLICY
We require at least a 48 hour notice for all cancellations.
CHECK IN
Please check-in at our office with an accurate headcount for students and adults. We will need to know the number of teachers and chaperones. Your instructors will meet you at the office.
FOOD AND EATING
Snacks or lunch may be eaten at the picnic tables or outside the vivarium.
GUIDELINES
Please read the following list of guidelines and share them with your group prior to the visit.
- Teachers and chaperones should model good behavior for the group and remain with students at all times.
- Please use your indoor voice.
- No pushing, running or rough play.
- Children are not allowed unaccompanied and should stay with the teachers and chaperones at all times.
- Please do not touch the insects or plants, let an instructor show you a butterfly or caterpillar or let the butterfly come to you.
- Be careful where you step, stay on the path and don’t step on plants (butterflies and caterpillars may be on the path).
If the group cannot comply with the rules, we may end the workshop or Vivarium Tour.
